Dogs
I am known as “Big Dog” here on the Run for One Planet tour. Apparently I am spacelly unaware because I have a tendency to (most of the time) knock things over, hug a bit too tight and sit just a bit too close (OK, on Steph) who’s a cat. Big dogs are full of love, and just want to be your best friend and make you happy. Just make sure the food is kept near so we don’t crash and turn into grumpy big dog.
Here are my thoughts on this creature known as: “Canine Barkus Roofus”, my pals, my buddies, my best friends. Dogs I (we’ve) met, been chased by and had the heartbreaking decision to have to leave where we found them, on this Run for One Planet Highway.
A dog just knows how to be your best friend. It’s a built in part of their DNA. He or she wants to just make you happy. He or she just wants to hang out together (all the time) if you’d let them. As long as you are ready with food, treats and a ball, a dog will go anywhere, pretty much do anything and want to be pretty much anywhere you are, any time of the day, or night.
Some dogs even sneak into the bed when you’re not looking and can’t believe you’d kick them out upon waking up and realize why you have no room. Some dogs even have the built in ability to clear a room. They are there for council 24/7 and will sit beside you with an understanding face. Or just be there to pet, if you’ve got a hard choice to face.
We’ve met many dogs on this journey of ours. Most are friendly and just want to meet another walking or running by. Some are not as nice because they have a job to do protecting their owners place. The ones I think are the funniest, are the ones still wagging their tails, as they bark for us to “get out of their owners space”. The very best dogs though, are the ones who run towards you as you spot them running by. They just want to run and run and run, or when you stop, just lick you in your eye.
We (I) could have adopted more than a few dogs since leaving Vancouver in May. Trust me, I’ve tried! But luckily, Steph has the big brain and makes me realize a dog in 28 feet would be a royal pain in the B-hind. She’s smart like a cat should be and like I said, that makes me, (the big dog), very lucky.
I know she’s right though, as we run past another. “But boy Steph, wouldn’t it be amazing if we could just adopt that one’s brother?!!”
A Dog would be a cool mascot to have for your cause! Try that angle next time. Gee you sound like ED! XD Had too.
