Run Day #106
110 km’s to Perth. 190 km’s to Ottawa marks the sign post up ahead.
My sister Dee’s birthday is today. She would have been 45 and has been up in Heaven hanging out with my Dad (who went up 8 years ago) for almost 18 years now. Happy Birthday Dee! A belated Happy 80th goes out to my amazing Mom as well. She passed the milestone earlier this week on August 15th and is currently enjoying her big birthday with family and friends back home in BC!
Time is flying as we make our way across towards eastern Canada. There is a shift in the air early in the morning. Gone are the humid wake ups. They have been replaced in just the last couple of days with the smallest hint of Fall with it’s heavier dew and streaks of fog covering the fields at dawn as I run by.
We had a taste of Northern Ontario camping again last night as we lucked out and got the last spot beside a sweet lake just outside Marmor, complete with water front view and warm temperatures. Missing though, were our Northern Ontario buddy’s, the mosquitoes and no-see-ums. A guest from a month ago Vanessa and Steph did not miss!
This morning I feel contemplative about nothing in particular, though I feel like there is so much I could relay via this blog. I guess sometimes blogs can just be about nothing more than the beauty of the moment. Our friend, Bill Henderson’s band Chilliwack is on the radio as I type. “Fly By Night” is the song and the lyric says, “four men in a rock n roll band”. I sort of feel like that sometimes on this journey. Running shoes are our instruments as well as our voices. Our stage is the pavement and platforms we speak from. Our album and tour name, “Run for One Planet: North America/ Live 365”. I wonder what the double greatest hits album will comprise of. Stay tuned as we keep “running on empty” at the end of every day in our quest to inspire Action for our amazing Planet.
