Canada Day, we celebrate, we remember.
Here’s wishing everyone across our great (AND BIG) country an awesome day celebrating everything Canadian with family and friends. Right now a couple from Calgary (who saw our story in IMPACT magazine written by our friend Jen Lowery) are running with Steph! They were on their way east from Calgary, saw the tour RV, and had just been talking about wanting to go for a run as they’d been on the road for awhile. It was perfect timing for all.
They totally made our day and lifted our spirits to connect with other runners, especially on this most auspicious of occasions, our nations big day. We hope everyone along highway 1 is enjoying similar experiences today.
On a very sad note, we learned late last night that a group of cyclists from Vancouver who were riding to St. Johns Newfoundland to raise money for Type 1 Diabetes were tragically struck from behind by an automobile, killing two of them instantly. The other two are in hospital. We dedicate this Canada Day run day to them, and want to wish their families our heartfelt condolences. We never had the pleasure of meeting “The Ride of a Lifetime” team, however, we most likely would have been passed by them sometime this week, given their schedule.
You guys are awsome. Thanks for the run on Canada Day and we will be following your progress and accomplishments.
