Dream. Dare. Do.
The motto is simple. The summer camp where it comes from is, in a word, Magical. Each summer, kids from all over the area, and other countries, come to experience the magic of Youth Leadership Camps Canada in Orillia, Ontario.
We were privileged to experience the magic of this camp a few days ago after meeting Philly D (camp director) running on a rainy morning just outside of Winnipeg.
The spirit of the kids, the staff and chief camper, Stu Saunders, lifted us up and left a lingering feeling of happiness we’ll take with us for the duration of our journey. You know, there’s just something pretty special about a camp that makes the theme of the week the ‘environment’, in your honor….
something pretty special about campers making up songs for earth and serenading you, singing solo and in groups….
something pretty special about swarms of campers and directors alike coming up to you with open arms and big smiles….
something pretty special about camp directors that give their campers the option of donating some of their “tuck money” to our cause rather than spending it on candy….
something pretty special about a camp that keeps the Action Challenge Sheet running throughout the camp for the week, inspiring kids to take one new action for earth…
something pretty special about sitting on the Muskoka chairs, and meeting Emily, Gabby, and Jason…
something pretty special about climbing a 50 foot pole, and declaring in front of all these special people of wanting to change the world… and leaping to swat the buoy…
something pretty special about over 100 campers running you out of the camp, cheering on either side.
(sorry our presentation went an hour overtime… we were pretty touched by something pretty special… then you had to go and give us that standing ovation…)
This time in history needs a place like YLCC to motivate, inspire and dare kids to believe in the power of their dream. Being in nature, so close to the city, is a much needed place for kids to explore their greatness. Please visit www.ylcc.com for something pretty special.
Thanks, Phil, Austin the dog, Trish, Erin, Angela, Oranj, all you amazing leaders of tomorrow and head puba camper himself, STU-pendous Saunders.
Hope to see you soon……
Matt, Steph, and Vanilla.
With greater awareness the people of the world will make better choices and those informed choices will lead to better end results.
Thank you for raising our awareness.
Namaste~
Richard
